Vintage Authentic Excellent Russian Hand Painted Mstera Lacquer Box Signed with Original Paperwork. Beautiful work of art hand made from papier mache, oil painting, leaf gold, and layers of lacquer. Identification of this original art piece is also hand painted near bottom of the image. The left is the school (Mstera).

The center is the title (The Little Humpbacked Horse). The right is the artist initials (in Cyrillic script MB translated to English is MV but often the artist would sign last name first which would actually be initials VM). Whoever the artist is, possibly V.

Moshkovich, this is an extraordinary example of a Mstera Masterpiece. Years Mstera lacquer craft joined a galaxy of gifted artists: Vladislav Fedorovich Nekosu ("Vladimir escorted Alexander Nevsky in the Horde"), Mr Kopelevich Moshkovich ("Duke Stepanovich"), Vladimir Molodkin Ilya Muromets and Kalin-???? During these years, artistic images of works of Mstera lacquer miniatures become more defined, they have a clear connection with all the artistic experiences of the ancient Russian crafts. Measurements: 6 7/8"L x 4 7/8"W x 1 1/4H.

Condition: Amazing condition considering its age. Please Examine Photos Carefully for condition. Russian lacquer painting became a kind of art peculiar for its national originality. Components for lacquer painting are created from papier-mashe and the technology of its production does not change for more that two centuries. The object's body, bottom and lid are made separately.

Then all those parts are joined together, primed, dried and processed on the joiner's bench. The next stage is dyeing of the object. As a rule, from the outside, it is painted by the black dye, and from the inside - by the red dye.

Then the object is covered by several layers of transparent lacquer and after that is dried. Now the object is ready for painting.
