Vintage Limoges Box Colorful Teapot Hand Painted in Limoges, France By Rochard. For Your Limoges Box Collection.

Description: A dainty hand painted Rochard Limoges box in the form of a teapot. The teapot has a spout and an ear-shaped handle.

The box has a hinged lid and appears to mimic an ear of corn with the yellow corn kernels surrounded by the green leaves of the corn husk. This is very reminiscent of a corn ear majolica teapot. The interior of the box is white and undecorated. The entire piece is made of hand colored porcelain with brass hinged closure. The box has a thumb piece in the form of a brass colored honey bee. The painted and textured details are just very nice, see the detail in the kernels and the husk. This piece is marked as to the maker. Please see photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Early to mid 1900s. Size: The piece is 2 3/4" high, 3 1/8" at its widest including the spout and handle, and is 1 1/4 in diameter at the base. The box weighs a bit over 2 ounce. Marks: Written on the bottom in black on white background "Peint main; Rochard; Limoges France" in beautiful cursive calligraphy under glaze.
