The box is hand painted and the top lid depicts Queen Elizabeth II meeting the jockeys prior to a race. During a private visit to Kentucky in 1984, Her Majesty attended the inaugural running of the Keeneland race. The sides of the box depict a horse race in action with the text "KEENELAND" in the background. The inside shows a bugler starting the race and a horse weather vane.
The box is oval in shape and measures about 2 3/4" long, 2" wide, and 1 1/4 tall. The underside of the base is marked with the Keeneland logo and the Crummles name. I do not have the presentation case, if it had one. Condition of this Crummles Keeneland enamel box is EXCELLENT. It appears to be completely undamaged.I don't see any paint loss and the lid is very tight. This hard-to-find box looks fantastic and displays beautifully.
It was obviously well cared for. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself. Top View - Queen Elizabeth II Meeting the Jockeys.
