Large Hand painted Wavecrest Box By CF Monroe With Mark
Beautiful Large Hand painted Wavecrest Box. Decorated opal ware was very popular from 1890- 1910.
Monroe Company was one of the largest producers of wares made from this type of glass. Once it arrived back at Monroe's studio, using their own molds the beautiful forms were slumped and fired, adorned with any hardware (hinges and trim) and were then hand decorated by several artists on his staff. This particular Wavecrest box is a beauty with opal glass with undertones of pink at the base.
This lovely white scroll adornments highlight the beautiful and delicate hand painted blue flowers on top and on each side of the box. This glass piece measures 6" x 5-1/2". Stands approx 3.75 in height trimmed and hinged (working hinges).
