Antique Hand Painted Lidded WOOD BOX - Floral And Fruit Theme. LILY OF THE VALLEY And STRAWBERRIES - 1855. Marked in ink by hand both on the interior paper lining and on the underside of the box on the marbleized paper with'Windermere' spelling? , which we believe is possibly in England, and'August 1855'. Lined on the interior with a light pink textured paper embossed with a floral pattern, and with a multicolor marbleized paper decorating the underside of the box. At almost 170 years old, note condition of antique box where there are scrapes, scratches and dents to the clear lacquer finish. The hand painted design is primarily intact underneath the lacquer and is bright and colorful.

Also note cracks in the lid - a short crack on the top left part of the lid where the black border rule is painted, and also a deeper crack that runs along the bottom of the box, which is also along the black rule border at the bottom. The two metal hinges are both intact and in good working order. Approximate dimensions are 4.00" wide, 2-7/8" deep and 1.50 high.
