The bamboo struts are done in a glossy deep-red lacquer finish. The original, Kiri Paulownia wood box is included.This fan was probably intended for display but most likely never removed from the box. It came from a collection of vintage fans we have. Acquired that are all of superior quality and design and were clearly owned by someone of discerning taste.
Who was associated with the famous Japanese Buyo Dance company. Most seem to have been made in the 1970s to 1980s. This was clearly an exclusive, expensive item.A prized posession and has never have been used. It is in perfect condition with no age-related discoloration, fraying or bent corners. The first two photos show the front and back. It measures about 20 or 51cm across when open and is about 11½ or 29cm long when closed. The red felt-lined paulonia box is in excellent condition no splits or cracks. Inside is the original label of the maker. Made in Kyoto - See photos for other details.
