Very Rare Harrach Glassworks Formosa Decorated Boudoir Box. Stunning piece of glass here folks, rare and fresh to the market!
Harrach Formosa is a paperweight glass technique featuring red glass with either dark green aventurine or dark blue/green hot applied over the red, and then a final layer of clear glass crystal. It bridges the gap between Harrach's Victorian era glass to their Art Nouveau glass. Harrach Formosa is pretty rare in itself, but to find a Boudoir Box is even more so.This is only the second or third Formosa Boudoir Box I've seen in 25+ years of collecting and researching Harrach, and the only one I've seen in this oblong shape. Note that both the Harrach Glassworks as well as Riedel both made their own version of a similar glass. Unless signed, they are basically indistinguishable from each other. The work on this piece is amazing, quite a rare piece of glass, in an unusual shape Size: 3" x 6" wide x 3-1/2 tall. Outstanding condition, expected and appropriate age wear on the base. Overall a superb quality example of Victorian ingenuity and glass craftsmanship at it's finest. Thanks for looking, please ask questions, good luck!
