1840's French JEAN GILLE Antique BOY w/ FISH NET Hand Painted BISQUE STATUE Box. An exceptional work by Jean Gille, who founded a bisque porcelain factory at Rue de Paradis-Poissonniere in France, around 1845.I have owned many examples of Gille's work over the years, and this is perhaps the finest I have seen. Underside has Jean Gille's raised blue pad mark, as shown. Measures an incredible 11 1/2" x 8" and stands 8 1/4 tall.
Weighs over 5 pounds, before packing. Upon close inspection, I did notice several very very tiny and shallow scattered flakes.
These spots are very minor, and mainly to flakes to the gold trim paint. There are also some minor nicks to feet. For reference, examples are shown in bottom four close-up photos.I must stress that these spots are minor, and in no way detract from the piece. Absolutely no other chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, or hidden damage. Guaranteed to be antique, and not a reproduction. All items are from a smoke-free home.
I take extra care in packing, and you will never find inked newspaper touching your new treasures. FREE scheduling, supersized images and templates. Make your listings stand out with FREE Vendio custom templates! Over 100,000,000 served.
